So, I've been here for a few days and I've met a lot of new people and have been having fun! For part of orientation we got to spend Tuesday afternoon at the Polynesian Cultural Center and then go to the night show. It was pretty cool. I also got a job there as a waitress in the luau!
Classes started yesterday and they went really well. I'm excited for my religion class. This morning I had my Folk Dance of the Pacific Islands class and I'm really excited for it. We get an annual pass to the PCC for $25! We can go as much as we want and we can go to the night show whenever there are open seats. I'm very excited about that.
Last night after dinner I met up with a few girls from my orientation group that also live in Hale 3. I have a couple classes with one of the girls. Her name is Becca and she's visiting from BYU-Provo, too, and she actually lived in Liberty Square last year! Anyway, we all talked for a while and then decided to go to the beach and to the little ice cream place by the grocery store. It was really fun to hang out with the girls. We got to know each other a little better. One of the girls, Sara, is from Guatemala so it was really fun to hear about her life in another country. The other girl, Megan, is the sister of the one who lived in Liberty Square.
After we played on the beach for a while and watched the sunset we walked to the ice cream place. It's called Angel's Ice Cream and they also have shaved ice. I got this amazing treat called Angel's Halo. It's a mountain of shaved ice with 3 flavors of syrup then they drizzle condensed milk all over it and put whipped cream on top. It was huge but it was sooo delicious! After we finished our treats we walked back to the dorms and went to bed. I was so tired from the busy day. Then I had my dance class this morning and I think I'm going to got to the beach before my job orientation!
