The post you've been waiting for! Ok, it's really not that exciting, this is just the first time I've actually planned a post. Usually they are pretty spur of the moment, but last winter I brainstormed a few ideas and this is one from the list that I haven't done yet.
I would not consider myself a high-maintenance person, emotionally or otherwise. Yes, I like to dress cute and I try not to look like a bum on most days, but last winter I started noticing how little I care about what I sleep in. I just try to find something warm and comfortable.
I hate being hot when I sleep but I hate going to sleep cold so I my pajamas evolved into this:
- Brown stretched-out leggings: these offered the perfect amount of coverage and warmth. I never had to worry about the pant legs scooting up or getting twisted, and they weren't too thick. They were stretched out just enough to feel like I wasn't wearing any pants at all!
- T-shirt: usually a BYU shirt. I have too many t-shirts. I counted them at the end of the winter when I was trying to get rid of stuff. I think I had about 30. I got rid of about half of them. The best ones for sleeping are the big ones. You're lucky I was wearing a more fitted one for this shoot.
- Cardigan: this was one of the best evolutions of the whole ensemble. I would usually get into my pajamas long before bed time. Our apartment was always cold so it was all about layering. This cardigan was perfect because it had long sleeves and wasn't too thick (a lot like the leggings). It was great because as a cardigan, it led to easy removal. even if I wore it to bed to stay warm at first, I inevitably would have to take it off and it was so easy to shed that I don't think I ever woke up to do so. I realize that it totally clashes, but I clearly didn't care about seeing many people.
- The one thing missing from this ensemble is socks/slippers. I have a circulation disorder so my feet are always cold. I always had socks or slippers on. My mom sent me a really comfy pair of slippers when I had swine flu so I was most often seen wearing those. I wish I had them on in this picture. Slippers were better because they offered more protection and they were easier to take off before getting into bed. I can't sleep with socks on, no matter how cold my feet are.
I never would have gone out in public in these pajamas. You, reader, should consider yourself privileged to get a view into my intimate sleepwear. They are just awful. Nothing matches, everything is old and stretched out, but MAN, WERE THEY COMFORTABLE!
Maybe next winter it will evolve into something as equally comfortable and functional but maybe a little cuter...
