long time no see

So I know it's been a long time since I've written but I was packing in the fun the last few weeks in Hawaii and then I was packing in the family time while I was home for a couple weeks and then I was unpacking to move into my apartment.

Hawaii was awesome and one of the best things I've ever done. Here is a short list or all the amazing things I did:
  • I made friends from other countries
  • I worked at the Polynesian Cultural Center
  • I went to the beach every other day
  • I learned how to Tahitian dance
  • I went to a Maori funeral
  • I snorkeled in the ocean
  • I kayaked in the ocean
  • I rode the bus everywhere (as in public transportation)
  • I learned to live peacefully with the following creatures: geckos, cockroaches, sand crabs, and sea turtles
  • I swam in the same falls that Kate and Sawyer (from Lost) swam in
  • I ate Acai Bowls AND
  • I took some pretty cool classes

There are so many other awesome things I did but I won't bore you (or make you jealous) by listing them. I left Hawaii August 16th and it was a sad day. I got home the next day after three different flights (it was a long 24 hours). It was so good to see my family and give them gifts from Hawaii and tell them all the cool stories. I spent the next couple weeks at home getting everything ready for fall semester in Provo. I made a quilt, I packed my stuff, I got a job, I slept, I headed up a family luau (including hula lessons), and I said goodbye to the family.

I got to Provo August 29th after a long drive across the country. I slept in my new apartment by myself and started unpacking
and training the next day. The next week was crazy. I had to unpack, learn my job, start classes and get used to it all. It was so fun to see all my friends after the summer and I'm so glad I'm living with Chelsea, Ashley and Michelle. My ward seems really cool. There are a lot of new people so it's not so intimidating to be new. The bishopric is great and I'm excited to get to know everyone better.

Ashley and I joined an intramural flag football team with a bunch of girls from our ward. Most of them were in our ward last year so that's how I knew about it. We had practice earlier this week at the park behind Chatham Towne. Our coaches are a couple guys from our ward last year who are big sports buffs. They are great coaches and we learned a lot. We had our first game last night and we were all really nervous. After warming up w
e were feeling better and then our coaches showed up in suits and headsets and we were ready for anything. We played really well. We have a lot of room for improvement but our coaches were impressed and WE WON! A lot of people from the ward showed up, including the bishop and his wife. It was fun to have all the moral support and cheering. Our next game is in two weeks so we'll have a couple of practices before that and then we will be unstoppable. (The photo on the bottom is me with the coach.)
