July 4, 1776: The day the United States of America celebrates their independence.
July 4, 2010: Day 3 of an awesome weekend that I hope I never forget.
I have a friend named Kurt. He LOVES America. I love America too. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else (except maybe Europe for an extended visit). But Kurt is in love with America. So naturally we had to plan a really awesome holiday celebration. We made a list of all the activities, invited everyone we knew, bought a ton of food, and planned our patriotic outfits (ok maybe that was just me).
It started on Friday with a barbecue and a movie on the back deck. It ended Monday night with a movie on the back deck. How could we not come full circle?
Here's everything that happened in between:
- sleepover on the back deck
- free french toast breakfast at Macey's
- kickball game
- picnic
- swimming at Crestwood
- Freedom Days festival
- Cafe Rio
- Stadium of Fire
- fireworks (here we are outside the stadium waiting for the show)
- eternal game of Risk (which Kurt won, I think I deserve at least some of the credit. I was on his team for half the game)
- Freedom Days Parade (which included free crepes)
- Freedom Days take 2 (this trip included a pretty good karaoke number, performed by yours truly, Krystle and Bekah)
- Mona Lake rope swing (where the entire crowd cheered me on as a nearly swung to my death, but definitely to my embarrassment)
- shaved ice from somewhere close to heaven
- Independence Day on the back deck
BEST. WEEKEND. OF YOUR LIFE. (not just my life, your life too)
