I went to DC and did lots of stuff

I was in Washington DC last weekend so I didn't post, but do you know what that means? You get to hear all about my trip :).

I went for a conference for school and it was all about advocacy for health policy. We even went to Capitol Hill and met with congressmen and/or their staff (mostly their staff). I learned a lot of great information during the conference and meeting on Capitol Hill was a great experience. I learned so much about the importance of advocacy and the importance of health in all policies. Blah blah blah learning stuff...

Ok, now for the good stuff. I won't bore you with every detail, but here are a few highlights:

  • falafel in Chinatown
  • walking around a 150-year-old church
  • Eastern Market (flea/farmer's market)
  • Air and Space Museum
  • pho in Georgetown
  • DELICIOUS crepes
  • visiting the White House (we didn't go in, you need a background check for that)
  • Library of  Congress
  • walking around Capitol Hill by myself
  • Smithsonian Gallery of Art
  • spending time with everyone who went, we love each other so much!
And the best part of the entire trip? Hanging out with these guys!

My sister, Amy, and her husband, Brandon, drove up from Charlottesville, Virginia, with their two perfect kids to hang out with me! It was by far my favorite part of the whole weekend. We went to the Museum of Natural History where I gladly followed Josh around to look at all the cool animals, and then we went to dinner and just hung out. The next morning Amy and I went to the DC temple together, and it was such a special experience to be at the temple with her. Brandon brought the kids and we got some wiggles out on the temple grounds before they dropped me off at the hotel and we all headed home.

Spending time with them was a dream. Amy is my best friend and I don't see her enough. I am so so so happy we were able see each other and spend so much time together. Obviously it wasn't enough time, but I'll take what I can get. Josh and Emma are the two cutest kids ever and I love being with them. I can't even tell you how much I love that family. They are amazing and my favorite people ever!
