THE DIRTY DASH.
Map of the race. It was 10k (6.2 miles) and a lot of uphill running. The secret obstacle was a giant swampy, muddy, fishy-smelling pit of mud. If you weren't careful, you'd lose a shoe. The mud was thigh-deep in some places. I had to dig Rebekah's feet out. We thought about avoiding it but we ended up all over that muddy swamp and the muddy swamp ended up all over us.
Before
Me, Rebekah, Mel, Markie, Krystle, in our coordinating outfits.
We did it as a team so we all stuck together and had to go through the final obstacle at the same time. You can see that obstacle ("Pig Sty") below.

We looked like this during the majority of the race (the poses and everything). Most people were not even close to being this dirty so we became quite a spectacle. We were pretty proud of ourselves.
Final obstacle: Pig Sty! We were supposed to be crawling through the mud pit and under those flag/banner things but we were pretty muddy and tired so we just lifted the flags over our heads. Don't worry though, by the time we got to this last little downhill, we were full-on in the mud. and gravel.
Yes, Mel is indeed on top of me. She surfed me down that small hill you see behind us.
Finish line! I started out in the same shorts as everyone else but ended up in just my spandex. I'm hoping no one recognized me.
Abigail asked for a picture and I said "Are you sure?" and she said, "Yes, I'm sure." But then I grabbed her face and got a little mud in her mouth. Because that's what sisters are for.
We made an awesome team. Ran together, helped each other over the walls, sang together, tackled each other, dug each other out of the swamp, threw mud in each other's faces, walked together, surfed each other, fed each other grapes, donated our shoes together, and drove home crusty together. And hosed each other down in the front yard. While the neighbors watched.

Hahaha I was going to say the exact thing Heather just did:
That. Is. Awesome. Hahaha.
That looks like so much fun. I'm so glad you got such great pictures. My favorite part was when you hosed each other down in the front yard. While the neighbors watched. Love it.
You guys are so cool.
