day 23 and a saying

I just realized I have basically the exact same facial expression in every picture. I really was going for variety when I picked the lucky winners. It's like they say, you can't have everything.

I took my pictures in the old spot. I miss that place. It has been good to me. I'm going to try to take my pictures there as much as possible this last week of the challenge. Even if that means trekking through snow and freezing my behind. Every cloud has a silver lining.

I went to a burger place called Sammy's tonight for some free fries and and awesome burger. Sammy's is a local place that has really good food and AMAZING pie and cupcake shakes. The last couple times I've been there, I've noticed a little deal going on. This older, less fortunate man comes in for a meal. He gets a good, hearty burger and some friendly company and then he goes to work. He takes out the trash and does some basic cleaning around the place. I think it's great. He's such a friendly, nice guy and I'm sure he loves being inside a warm, friendly, happy place where he can be helpful. And in exchange he gets a warm meal. 

While I was waiting for my food, Sam, the owner, came in and instantly the atmosphere improved. He was high-fiving, patting backs, shaking hands, and asking questions. He eventually made is way over to me and roommate, asked how we were doing, introduced himself, asked our names, and assured us that our food was coming soon. He stopped and talked with the older man and was so welcoming. As soon as he had talked to everyone (literally) he went to the back, put on an apron and went to work. I loved seeing the whole thing, all the interactions, the warmth, and the hard work. I'll definitely be back to Sammy's. And not just for the food. Actions definitely speak louder than words.
