day 27 and detergent

shirt: Forever 21, skirt: Shade, shoes: I don't remember, tights: Target

And now the slightly pointless but very sad slightly sad but very pointless ballad of the laundry detergent:

My favorite laundry detergent is Tide with Downy April Fresh (or something like that). Last summer, I went to the store to buy more laundry detergent but alas, no Tide with Downy April Fresh. So there I was, standing in the laundry aisle, opening and smelling every Tide detergent, trying to pick my second favorite. I probably could have been there all day. The laundry aisle is my favorite. I will use almost any excuse to walk down that aisle, and at much slower pace.

Back to the story. So there I am taking a whiff of every Tide detergent, slowly narrowing it down. I finally decide on Tide with Febreze I Don't Remember the Febreze Scent. The next load of laundry I do has the cursed moldyvitaminfishoil. It ruined that laundry detergent for me. All I could smell was the moldyvitaminfishoil smell. I quickly repaired my mistake and located the Tide with Downy April Fresh for the next load, but I still had a whole bottle of the other Tide (I'm not typing the whole name again). Solution: give it to my homeless friend who just blogged about needing laundry detergent/doing laundry. Of course he accepted the offer. It would be part of his birthday present.

The laundry detergent stayed at my apartment. For some reason it's hard to get things to someone living in a van. I moved at the end of the summer and the laundry detergent came with me. I unpacked that particular box and left the birthday detergent in the box to be given in the future, when it was more convenient.

I've been doing laundry all semester, naturally, and I kept noticing the mvfodetergent smell. I just thought it was haunting me and/or was permanently in my clothes so I just ignored it. Last week I decided I didn't have to put up with it anymore and I was determined to find a detergent to get rid of it. I checked to see how much Tide I had left and was happy to find that I could buy something to replace it.

Back to the laundry aisle. Initially I had to decide if I wanted to stick with Tide. Tide has been there for me always so I couldn't desert it now but this would be the final test. If another Tide scent couldn't eliminate mvfodetergent smell, I'd move on. As I browsed the Tide I noticed the Tide with Downy April Fresh scent. It looked strangely unfamiliar. Then it hit me.

I had been using the Tide with Febreze Scent I Don't Remember the whooooole semester. I unpacked the wrong Tide when I moved in. The mvfodetergent smell wasn't haunting me; I was washing my clothes in it with every load. How could I make this mistake?? How had I not realized it until now?? I bought the Tide with Downy April Fresh immediately and started counting down the days until my next load of laundry.

Then I went home and checked the box with the other bottle of Tide. Yep, Tide with Downy April Fresh. Half full. Now I have an almost empty Tide with Febreze, etc. and one (brand new) and a half bottles of Tide with Downy April Fresh.

Tide: You have not failed me and you (likely) never will. I wish I could say the same thing about me, for you.
