My Birthday
My birthday is December 30 which means I get the day off and get to spend it with my family, every year. It's really close to Christmas but since it's
after Christmas it's a very welcome celebration. This year was a big one: 25. I was so excited to turn 25. The morning of my birthday we had a big breakfast with waffles, Swedish pancakes, bacon, and sausage. Best birthday breakfast ever. I woke up feeling not super awesome, figuring I had caught one of the many colds traveling through my family, but I didn't want it to ruin my birthday so I brushed it off and figured I'd feel better with time. After breakfast I felt like I was going to pass out. I had never been so tired (think George Banks on
Father of the Bride 2). I took a nap and laid around for a while but didn't want the sickness to win. I finally got up, got ready, and went to a movie with my dad. We saw
Sherlock Holmes 2 and I loved it. Then we met the family at a Mexican restaurant for dinner. I was taking drugs on a strict schedule so despite the residual achiness the afternoon and evening was thoroughly enjoyable. The house was decorated when I got home and then we had present time. I wasn't expecting anything (because everyone had been such good secret-keepers) so it was so fun to open some surprise gifts! My mom made a delicious flourless chocolate cake (25 candles is a lot). Then we played a game and watched a movie. It was an awesome birthday!
