part 2

Here's the follow-up to Thursday's story about my big break:

Poor Scott was so embarassed. The first illustration of this occurred that night, after the show. Abigail and I were waiting in the foyer for Trevor, and Scott approached me.

"Hey, thanks again for doing that. You were a good sport."

"No, thank you! That was the best night of my life!"

"Really? Oh good! Well, I'm glad you had fun! As soon as I walked back stage everyone said, 'Um, did you know that was Trevor's sister?' I had no idea! I guess I'll have to go apologize to him for that..."

Apologize for what!? It was just an act, right? RIGHT? Maybe he feels bad because he was actually trying to pick up on me? Ha. Anyway, I felt bad for the poor guy, like I tricked him or something. I didn't, I just wanted to be on stage with everyone :).

Don't worry, there's more. Fast forward to Tuesday night.

I'm socializing after a church activity and as I walk towards the refreshment table I see Scott. SERIOUSLY!? I point him out to my sister and she says not to worry about saying hi. If we come in close enough contact I can smile and say hi, but don't seek him out. Thinking I can totally avoid another awkward encounter I take her advice and semi-ignore him.

FAIL. We basically run into each other and he says, "Hey! It's Amanda, right?" and shakes my hand. Really?! We make pointless small talk, I introduce him to Abigail, and he introduces me to his friend who says, "Yeah, I heard you guys shared a moment on stage." Not only is it a little awkward to mention that we "shared a moment" but CLEARLY Scott has talked about me and pointed me out to other people.

ME: "Oh, haha, yeah..."
SCOTT: "Haha, yeah, we sure did. I think I even shook my hips at her."
ME: "Haha, it was great, best night of my life." (I'm wondering at this point how weird that is starting to sound, especially after he just mentioned that he shook his hips at me that night.)

More pointless small talk and finally, "Well, it was good to see you, tell Trevor I said hi."

And that's the end of that. Expect that I feel like this is probably just the beginning, especially considering that Scott just joined Vocal Point. We have a long road ahead of us, me and Scott.
