craftday

Considering how awful the word "Monday" is, let's just call it something else. And because I chose "Craftday", I'm going to show you a craft.

About 6 weeks ago, I moved into a new apartment. It's beautiful and I love it. I also have a giant size room. And I can say that because the last room I had was tiny. There was about enough room for my bed, a desk, and that's about it. So my new room is pretty awesome. Because I have so much space and the walls are so big, I decided to really spruce it up and make it my own.

Enter crafts.

I found some ideas on pinterest, some from previous decorations in old apartments, and some I just came up with on my own. I made a list of supplies and went shopping. Then I started crafting the crap out of that stuff.

Now I have these:

fabric covered canvases
This was my inspiration.

My roommate Brittany from a few years ago made these and I totally copied her. I bought canvas board, fabric, spray mount, and duct tape. The rest is pretty self explanatory. I just decided the arrangement, cut and folded the fabric, sprayed on the adhesive and stuck the fabric on. After it was dry, I duct taped it to the back and hung it on my wall with 3M Command strips.

These:
red floating shelves (I did not make these, I just hung them. Crafty, right?)
I just bought these cute shelves at Target and hung them on my wall. They weren't really craft, but they add to the whole image so I included them.

And these:
FRAMES!
I've been wanting to do a frame wall for a while but didn't really have any space at my old place for a project like this. I went to the thrift story, bought a bunch of frames (they were all $1-$2 each), took them all apart, and spray painted them. The perfect arrangement took a few tries but I love how they turned out. I plan on filling up the frames, and I have some other pinned ideas for that. I just have to get some courage and muster up the artist in me.

These are the walls in my room:

I'm going to paint the frame of my bulletin board so it matches.
The wooden chest under my window was my great-grandpa's!
I love it and I'm so happy!! I know I should have taken pictures along the way for those crafts, but they are pretty simple. Now on to more crafts!
